OPEN CALL Police Youth and Adult Correctional Intervention Teacher
JOHN ABBOTT COLLEGE has the following anticipated vacancies for the 2024-2025 academic year
DISCIPLINE: Criminology Intervention (310-02) TYPE OF CONTRACT:* Part-time contract representing full and/or part-time workload. AREA OF EXPERTISE:*** To teach Criminology Intervention courses to First, Second, and Third year students.

*General Hiring Criteria*
- Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Social Work or related field.
- Directly related work experience preferred.
- Teaching experience at post-secondary level preferred.
- Working knowledge of the structure and operation of the youth and adult correctional and social service system in Quebec.
- Bilingualism (English/French) and ability to teach in French are preferred, as in the context of Bill 96 and the changes to the Charte de la langue française, if there is a need, the candidate must be willing and able to teach in French
**In addition to general criteria above, specific educational qualifications/experience required to teach: THE IMPACT OF LIFESPAN DEVELOPMENT ON DELINQUENCY AND VICTIMIZATION CLINICAL CRIMINOLOGY I CLINICAL CRIMINOLOGY 2 PSYCHOPATHOLOGY AND DEVIANCE MENTAL HEALTH INTERVENTIONS*** Master's degree in Psychology, Psychoeducation or related field.
*CPR FIRST RESPONDER*
- Current Instructor or Master Instructor for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada (Quebec). Ability to certify the students in CPR (Level C), AED, and First Aid (16-hour certification)
*OR*
- Current Instructor or Master Instructor for the Canadian Red Cross, with a Provider Agency Affiliation. Ability to certify the students in CPR (Level CO), AED,) and First Aid (16-hour standard level), or First Responder (45-hour course)
- Current Ist Responder Certification preferred
- Current Ambulance Technician-Paramedic certification preferred
- Directly related experience in emergency response
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of the relevant correctional systems in Quebec
- Bilingualism (English/French) and ability to teach in French are preferred, as in the context of Bill 96 and the changes to the Charte de la langue française, if there is a need, the candidate must be willing and able to teach in French.
*SELF DEFENSE*
- Bachelor's or equivalent" degree in Physical Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field may be considered
- Martial Arts Instructor Certification
- Bilingualism (English/French) and ability to teach in French are preferred, as in the context of Bill 96 and the changes to the Charte de la langue française, if there is a need, the candidate must be willing and able to teach in French.
